About
the Instructor
I have
had Dos Picos Ranch for the past 30 years and have been working with horses
from before that time.
For
the past 20 years or so I have had the opportunity to study with some of
the greatest horsemen of our times. These gentlemen include but are not
limited to Tom Dorrance, Buck Brannaman, Ray Hunt, P. Parelli, Joe Wolter,
Brynn Nubert and others. I feel blessed and fortunate to have had the chance
to gain information from each of these individuals.
A few
years later I was fortunate enough to find an article in the Western Horseman
on Mike Bridges (Note “Mike Bridges” featured in Aug 2006 Cover of the
Western Horseman). I sought Mike out knowing he would help to fit the pieces
of the puzzle together from all the information I had learned from these
great horsemen.
Fortunately,
after a few years of waiting, we were lucky enough to get Mike Bridges’
Bridle Project and Horsemanship Clinic at the Ranch, and it has been here
at Dos Picos Ranch - for the past 6 years - twice a year. I am the clinic
sponsor and a student of Mikes.
With
all of this under my belt I am here to share what these past years experience
have brought to me with my students and most importantly to their horses.
All
of this is what I would like to share with you when you are riding and
studying here at Dos Picos Ranch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adults
and Youth at all skill levels will learn from, and enjoy the programs we
offer here at Dos Picos Ranch.
These
programs range from basic “good horsemanship skills and safety” to teaching
your horse good ground manners on the ground and in the saddle improving
your own ground and riding skills. I accept all disciplines and experience
levels.
You
are welcome to use one of our many lesson horses or bring your own horse
to ride and train on. You will learn how to teach and train your horse,
not only how to ride. My lesson program will teach you how to use your
mind as well as your body when riding, and to communicate more easily with
your horse. Whether you are having problems communicating with your own
horse, or would like to learn how to communicate better with a horse on
the ground, you will find it simple, easy and fun. There is No Big Mystery
to learning these skills and techniques.
All
of this is what I would like to share with you when you are riding and
studying at Dos Picos Ranch. Whatever it is you are seeking to do with
your horses please know that my goal is to make it enjoyable and easy for
you and your horse. Instruction is done solely by me, Patti Rutledge; as
I am the owner of Dos Picos Ranch. If you are interested or have any other
questions please give me a call at (760)789-3613. Hope to be of a help
in some way to you and your horses. Look forward to hearing from you.
Kindly,
Patti
